Tricks You Should Learn During GMAT or SAT Preparation

People attend test preparation schools to get ready for the SAT or GMAT because they want to learn about the materials that are likely to be on the test in a structured and consistent format.  People also take SAT preparation classes to learn the tips and tricks that will get them to test day ready to score high.  And people take GMAT test preparation courses to learn test taking skills such as how to utilize note-taking and how to pace yourself to get through the exam without making careless mistakes or running out of time.  There are many ways in which a class or online program can help.

One trick that you may learn in an effective program through one of these test preparation schools is how to take advantage of note-taking with your pen and paper.  It's a good idea to take note of the primary equation that you will be using and the gist of the problem as soon as you have read through it.  If you learn to do this during your SAT preparation, you will be able to better focus on the requirements of the problem and easily regroup if you have made an error. This requires some practice before the test to be able to determine how much you need to write, so make it a regular part of your study regimen.

You might also learn special skills during your GMAT test preparation, such as how to analyze the given answer choices when solving a question.  The best way to solve many problems is to give equal attention to the answer choices and the problem itself because you can typically tell if the answer choices are too small or too big to be correct.  Or if all the answer choices are fractions, you can learn a lot about how you will need to solve the problem.  In order to analyze the given answer choices, sometimes it helps to actually read them before you read the question.

There are many things you can learn about the SAT or GMAT by taking courses from test preparation schools.  It's important that you practice well beforehand to help prepare for the test.  By combining time management exercises with GMAT practice tests and essay writing in the months and weeks leading up to test day, you should be able to score high.
